Past Events/Exhibitions

SuperHappyDevHouse25 - Lightning Talk

I will be giving a 5-minute talk on how I programatically generate pretty landscapes with
rainbows, puffy clouds & trees.

I will also talk about the little framework I made for generative art development, which combines
Adobe Illustrator scripting, the Flickr photo & upload APIs, and the Amazon S3 API. It uses Flickr as
a visual debugger-logger and lets you branch in infinite ways.

My goal is to make detailed, quality graphic-art style landscape illustrations that look similar to my best-selling
digital illustrations, but to do it completely automatically with code & equations. No shapes are
pre-drawn or pasted other than the basic primitives such as circles & rectangles.

Largely inspired by Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, & Jeff Koons, I am also doing this to experiment
with mass art production and delegating pieces of the creative process to machines.

If machines do the creative work, and if I do nothing but the manual labor of
mounting & framing their images, is it still art?

SuperHappyDevHouse is the San Francisco Bay Area's largest hacker event. SHDH25 was held on May 17, 2008
at Sun Microsystems in Menlo Park, CA. See shdh.org for details.

Bacio Cafe

In 2004 I started drawing oranges. My drawings evolved into strikingly playful graphic
illustrations of oranges in all sorts of situations. From oranges falling out of trees to oranges
exploring the final frontiers of space, my digital paintings show every imaginable scenario that
could possibly involve oranges.

Orangepulp is a series of over 90 digital paintings of oranges, done mostly in Adobe
Illustrator & Photoshop. I have hand-picked my favorite ones for this show.

These originally appeared on Orangepulp, but many have been reworked in detail since their original posting.

Opening Reception: Sunday, Feb 24, 2008, 5-8pm

Ongoing show: Feb 19 through April 6

My studio is open to the public! You can schedule a studio visit to see my work by emailing me. I am there most days & evenings.
2345 Harrison St, Studio #146. San Francisco, CA 94110.

I am very interested in exhibiting my work. Also, I want to do commissioned large-scale grids of
rainbow landscapes for homes, corporations, etc. I can make them as small or as large as you can imagine.

I am moving my operations to a 12,500 sq ft warehouse gallery/art factory sometime during early summer 2008.
Largely inspired by Andy Warhol's factory.
Email me to get on the announcement list for news, art openings, & crazy, eccentric art parties.
You are more than invited right now, although I may close off the list at some point.
