Announcing my upcoming book, A Very Magical Caterpillar Tale
Written by Audrey M Roy

Over the past few months, I've been writing and illustrating a new children's book.  "A Very Magical Caterpillar Tale" is the story of the butterfly life cycle, brought to life with rhyming verses and cute illustrations.

While the book's primary audience will probably be children, I think that anyone who enjoys my artwork or indie art/design in general will appreciate the styling and detail that I've put into the illustrations.

Canary bird asks scared caterpillars if he can eat them.

I've attempted to push the limits of CMYK printing, using color tricks that I've learned over the years to make every image appear brighter than the typical children's book.

The book is being produced by Fuzzy Rainbow and will be released in October 2010.  Want to keep track of when it comes out (and possibly win an autographed copy)?  Then go to Fuzzy Rainbow's Facebook page  and click "Like" -- news will be posted there soon.

Art Museum/Gallery Touring
Written by Audrey M Roy
Friday, 02 October 2009

My mission for September and October has been to visit as many United States art museums and galleries as possible.  I have a JetBlue all-you-can-jet pass (valid 9/8-10/8).  I am doing this while getting my other work done on the side, and also while visiting old friends in various cities.

I'm especially fond of modern and contemporary art, but I like pretty much all types of art.  What I've seen so far:

Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena, CA
Dia, Beacon, NY
Various galleries, Lower East Side, Manhattan, NY
Art Institute of Chicago, IL (2x)
Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, WA (2x)
Frye Art Museum, Seattle, WA
Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL
Various galleries, Chicago, IL
Hirshhorn Museum, Washington, DC (2x)
Phillips Collection, Washington, DC

More places to come!  It's not over yet.

I will be back in SF/Oakland on October 15.  I hope to be back in the studio working on the wood/plaster/concrete/found-object sculptures the day I return.  I feel very inspired.
